Starting Over…Again

Oh lord, I’ve neglected this blog. Typically, when I go a long stretch not posting on here, it means I’m gaining weight. In “real life,” I’m a very private person, and try not to burden others with my problems. Partly because I don’t think everyone wants to hear it, and partly because it’s damn hard to own up to my failures. It sucks telling the whole world that you’ve failed. Well, I’m here telling you that I haven’t just failed, but have hit bottom. I hope. It’s been a crazy busy year, an emotional year, and it hasn’t finished kicking my ass yet. There are some pretty major things in the works for my family in September (that I’m not allowed to talk about yet) that have had me eating my feelings for a good chunk of the year now. On top of that, my twins “graduated” preschool, and moved up to all-day kindergarten this fall; Abby (my oldest) had SEVEN teeth pulled this past Spring, and will likely need braces in the near future; Cora had tonsil/adenoid surgery just 3 weeks before school started (and there was a whole lotta food/emotional eating leading up to THAT); and Emma FINALLY potty-trained around this time. And that’s not even skimming the top of the iceberg. It’s been a very stressful year to say the least.

But these are all excuses I tell myself to excuse my shitty eating and lack of exercise. I haven’t just a setback, though, I’m full-on starting at square one. So many times, I thought about writing a post about my struggles in the hopes that it would help motivate me again, but I’ve been too scared to. So much so, that I ended up gaining pretty much everything back that I’ve lost the past couple years. I’m back in this horrible cycle of hating myself because of my weight, but not being willing to do anything about it. I hate it! I know I find myself paying more attention to those bloggers who are open and willing to talk about their setbacks, so why is it so hard for me to do the same? So here I am, back at the beginning...again:
This is my version of the sad Before face you always see in infomercials. :P

My good friend, Karri, over at Babe Before Baby knew a little about how much I’ve been struggling, so she reached out to me. If you don’t follow Karri, you definitely should! She jumpstarted her weightloss journey after being on The Newlywed Game last year, and has not looked back since. She’s an incredible inspiration!

Karri has been a beast and has not allowed her setbacks ruin everything she’s worked for. She’s one of those I admire so much who are willing to face their issues, and continue blogging about them, gaining so much love and support from their followers! Karri was recently looking at different ways to keep things fresh for herself, and not let herself plateau for too long, and did a lot of research on the whole Beachbody brand. She decided to try it, and liked it so much that she quickly became a coach. Her results are seriously impressive!!

I noticed her post about a “challenge pack” Beachbody was offering that bundled the new dvd craze, T25, that I keep hearing about along with a 30-day supply of Shakeology, so I messaged her asking more info about it (figures it would be the last day they were offering it). After many messages back and forth, she really inspired me to try it out! Karri has lost 15.5 inches in just the first month of T25! Shakeology was a big part of her success as well, so I decided to give it a go. Check out how amazing she looks!

Shakeology® is the most delicious, nutrient-dense,
superfood-packed protein shake on the planet.

It contains more than 70 natural ingredients derived from rich, nutrient-dense whole-food sources from around the world.

Shakeology is so incredibly healthy, no other single food item out
there can supply you with all the nutrients, vitamins, proteins, and
minerals in the amounts you need the way one delicious shake can.
  • Curb cravings for sugar and junk food
  • Promote weight loss
  • Increase energy levels
  • Improve digestion and regularity
  • Support your immune system
  • Support cardiovascular health
Your body will begin to shed stored fat while Shakeology's superfoods (that are chock-full of antioxidants and phytonutrients) work their magic, helping reduce "free radical" damage that could potentially lead to heart disease, heart attacks, high blood pressure, and strokes.
I’m not gonna lie, I’m still really skeptical about the whole shake thing. Is Shakeology really better than the protein powder I’m already stealing from Damon to use in my green smoothies? Especially at that price! But, the biggest reason I decided to try it is their 30-day money-back guarantee. The guarantee even allows you to turn in the empty bag if you want to truly test it for the full amount of time, no questions asked!
Empty Bag Guarantee: We're so sure that Shakeology will improve your health, we've created an amazing guarantee.
Try Shakeology for 30 days. If you don't feel healthier, simply call Customer Service within 30 days for a refund of purchase
price (less shipping & handling). Even if the bag is totally empty.
I need to do something to get me back in the groove, though. I do really well for a couple weeks, and then crash and burn all over again. To really get me motivated, Karri has offered to create a super secret Facebook group just for our followers who are wanting to try Shakeology to offer more personalized coaching! She'll be with us every step of the way. I know I need all the motivation I can get to stick with it, and would love for all of you to join us!

To participate in our group, all you have to do is buy a bag of Shakeology from Karri (just click the Shakeology link or contact her at babebeforebaby at gmail dot com). That's it! AND since it's our birthday month (which is the best month of the year! At least for us.), we'll be giving away a bag of Shakeology if we have 15 participants by the 23rd!

I'm making September my new January, and starting with a clean slate from here on out. Who's with me?

  1. Oh my dear, I am so sorry that life has been kicking your ass!!! And I'm sorry that your emotional eating got the better of you (I gained some weight over the summer too...it's funny, my post today was about recommitting as well!) Best of luck as you continue...maybe another 1/2 marathon in the future to inspire you?!?

    1. Aw, thank you, Bren! Today was supposed to be my one and only full marathon, but we had to evacuate due to a massive wildfire back in late June that completely derailed my training. I did run a 4-mile race on the Fourth of July, and have a couple 5Ks coming up.

  4. I'm sorry that life's been kicking your ass this summer. I hear you, though. It's so frustrating to have to start over again. (And in my case, again. Then again. I'm somewhat in the same boat.) Here's to an amazing September. (And September has always been January to me! I prefer it that way :-)) I can't wait to see your results!

  6. I just found your blog after pinning your planner idea you posted! I have 5.5 year old twin girls, and went through the post baby weight issues too. I got in such a rut of eating high amounts of calories that my Dr recommended during the pregnancy and breast feeding, that I continued to eat that way after I stopped pumping. By the time the girls were 6 months old I surpassed my pregnancy weight and topped out at 237 lbs at 5'8. While at a friend's wedding I saw the pictures of how I looked and raised what I had done! After several failed attempts, I finally got the motivation when I earned a trip to the Bahamas through my work. I kicked it into high gear and set weekly goals and posted my measurements like you have done. I have done list 120lbs! It was a journey and not done over night, but the hardest part by far is controlling the food! Do you do clean eating weekly food prep? I found that this helped me out the most! I can feed attest to the adage 'abs are made in the kitchen, and honed in the gym'! Good luck with everything! I hope to see more posts on here! Hold yourself accountable and we will cheer you along!
