I mentioned my funk earlier, but I wasn't completely honest in how bad it was. The girls and I only left the house once last week to buy groceries. I hardly showered. Hell, I hardly got out of bed. My house is now disgusting. We did play board games and watch movies quite a bit, and I did manage to do Jillian once with a few Gazelle workouts thrown in. I also ate pretty well since I didn't leave the house to grab some fast food, and I cooked all our meals. But now the kitchen is overflowing with dishes.

Today, was much better. I showered yesterday, and we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner, so even that small outing made me feel better. I made myself continue that, and loaded up the kids and went to the gym this morning. Very few things lift my mood more than a good runner's high! I need to remember that, and force myself to get my butt up and MOVE when I get in these funks! 

I walked for 15 minutes at increasing inclines, maxing out at a 9 since I wasn't on the good treadmill with the handles and that can go up to a 30 or so. I have a huge fear of falling off the treadmill, so I was scared to go any higher. After my warm-up walk, I put on my pretty new g-loves (along with my big-girl panties) and went into the weight room that was filled with guys who had the day off today. I was really surprised to find out how much I missed the weight room! My g-loves made me feel like a "real" lifter. :D

After the weight room, I came back out the cardio room to find it PACKED already! I didn't think that would happen for a couple more days! Luckily, my YMCA has another room with cardio equipment and the  machines for the circuit training classes, so I hopped on the treadmill again and decided to run this time. I haven't run more than a mile or two since I ran 4 miles at the beginning of the month. And that was only one of what? 3 good runs? since my half in September! Today, I ran a 5k, and felt fantastic! No pain anywhere, outside of the usual just starting out soreness. I pushed harder than I should've right now, but I just wanted to GO! So much so that I was late picking up my kids from the childcare. Oops!

When I was done, I felt better than I have in awhile! I felt renewed. I could feel the funk leave my body as I sweat, and filled up on endorphins. I will not let myself slip again!

To be sure I stick with it this coming year, I signed up for the 13 in 2013 challenge. 13 races next year! Mine will mostly be 5 and 10Ks, but I am planning on doing at least one other half (maybe 2). There will also be virtual races to do since races can get expensive. Deadline to sign up is today, so hurry and do it with me!

Now to clean my nasty-ass house. Anyone want to come and do that with me too? Please?


  1. Umm, I needed to clean my nasty ass house too! I remember when I lived in Illinois, it was so easy to stay inside and not do much in the winter. My hat's off to you for going to the gym!

    1. That's such a big part of my mood. It's cold and gross, so why on earth would I want to subject myself to that?! I learned I need to get out for my sanity.
