Ultimate Conditioning

My husband and I joined the Y back in January since a few of my friends are members, and I'm more likely to go with people. I immediately started taking a class on Tuesday mornings, called Ultimate Conditioning. There's a Thursday class too, but my friends warned that Thursday instructor was insane so I stayed far away. Tuesday was hard, but not crazy. I felt like I got a good workout, but wasn't dying.

Well, now that I've done a month of Ripped in 30 and trained for a half, I felt ready to take on Thursday. A friend and I went together, and holy shit! This class made Ripped look like a walk on the beach. It was kinda like the Jillian videos with 3 minutes of strength and 3 minutes of cardio, over & over for almost an hour. In each strength segment we worked a different body part. My legs were SHAKING in the very first segment!

Today, I am so completely sore everywhere. I'm moving like an old lady, and it takes me 10 minutes to sit down. Oh the pain! If it'll get me looking like a lot of the women in the class, though? It will be so worth it! I will definitely do that class again, and would love to get to where I don't have to modify everything.

The best news was my hip didn't give any trouble at all in the class! Yay!

What are some of your favorite classes at your gym?

  1. Yay for trying something different!! I'm like-how can I be plateau-ing when I'm running so much? Apparently my body gets bored, too...
160 for Holidays!! You're so brave to post your weight! I'm 163 one day, then 168 the next...soooooo frustrating...but I'd never be brave enough to post it on my own blog!! You're inspiring me.

    1. Most of the people who don't know me in real life don't know about the blog, though the blog's made me more comfortable with my weight. If they do find it, it ain't no thing. ;)

  2. That class sounds awesome! I haven't gone to any at my own gym but I seriously need to! 30DS and running are keeping me busy this month though. Keep up the awesome work!

    1. Thanks, Annie! I only went to the gym when I needed to run on the treadmill when I did Ripped and trained for the half. I know how that goes. :) You'll definitely see some awesome results, so keep it up!

  3. I used to live fairly close to a gym and I loved taking the classes there! I would go with 2 of my friends and it didn't even feel like a chore; I really looked forward to working out. My favorite classes were Yoga and Turbo Jam. Now we live in the boonies about 40 minutes away from the nearest gym so I'm stuck with Jillian in my living room. ;)

  4. I haven't done any classes yet. I belong to a tiny gym and they only have like 1 evening class a week and I think one on the weekend. They have a piloxing and a zumba. I should really go to them sometime though I bet they are great work outs!
