Happy Birthday to Me!

One thing y'all should know about me is that I LOVE my birthday! My husband jokes that it should be a national holiday the way I carry on. Yes, I'm now 34 and still count down to my birthday like an 8 year-old. :)

This birthday has been one of the best in a long time. It's been full of celebrations with everyone I love who is local. Neighborhood bunco Thursday night where I rocked my Cowboys shirt and was asked if I've been losing weight all night (best feeling ever!). Friday night, one of my BFFs threw another birthday girl and me a girls' night in at her house and we pinterested shirts into tank tops, and ate like fat girls, drank wine, and laughed hysterically. She made us this deliciously rich cake. The frosting was nutella. I die. The "candles" are pirouette cookies with fondant on top.

Sunday afternoon, we went ziplining. I'm terrified of heights, so that first zipline was incredibly scary. You want me to walk off a cliff? WHAT? I was under the assumption that one was pushed to get moving, but nope. You walk (or run) to the edge of the cliff and keep going. I was SHAKING so badly from the adrenaline and fear after the first one. Once I got over that, it was such a rush! They kept teasing me because it was my idea to do this, but I was the one who was the most scared. Now I can't wait to do it again!!

Having my birthday on Race Week was the greatest idea ever because I'm to "carbo load" all week. When I went grocery shopping yesterday, I stocked up on plain white bagels, my favorite potato bread that I never buy, and sourdough bread to go with our potato cheese soup that I made for dinner last night. My girls and I were browsing cakes in the bakery section, but I was having a hard time deciding which one to get so I got 4 little ones. That is so going to be my new tradition! We dug in after dinner last night because I couldn't wait a day to eat it. I only had a few bites of each, but they were all so good!

Once my twins go to school this afternoon, I'm headed to a makeup artist friend's house where she'll be doing my hair and makeup for my birthday. Another friend is watching our kids this evening so Damon and I can go to my favorite steakhouse. I can't wait!

In blog news, I've added some new buttons. On the top right sidebar, there are social media buttons to make it easy for you to follow me via RSS, or on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram. There's also a button if you'd like to email me with any questions. I've also added a left sidebar to give me a place to add your blog buttons without making the one sidebar way too long. There, you'll find my new button I made. Please feel free to "grab" the code and add it to your blog if you'd like. A few of my friends buttons are there as well. They are all awesome ladies, so please show them some love by clicking on the button and checking out their blogs. I'll be adding more buttons as I go.

  1. Happy Birthday!!!

In my house I have a birthday season - the entire month of March is my birthday and I do live it up - and yes I am the only one in the house who gets to do this..

    1. Ha! Yes, that's how it goes in my house too. I use "but it's my birthday" as an excuse all month long, and when we were having kids, I really hoped none would be born in September because that's MY month. :)
My twins share the month with my husband instead.
