Speed Demon

So despite the butt shot, I made myself go to the gym to get my run in since I only have a month left before the half! I'd mentioned running to the nurse, and she said it would help distribute the medicine and actually help the soreness. I was skeptical, but it worked. I feel fine now.

And I had a kickass run!!

I'm not a fast runner by any means, but I'm totally ok with that. I'm still out there doing, and that makes me proud. I'm typically a 12-13 minute runner, but FINALLY getting all of my training runs in is starting to pay off and my times are getting better. Who knew that actually putting in the mileage and not phoning it in would pay off?! ;)

  2. I'm a slow runner too and it bothers me since I read a lot of blogs and they're all a few minutes faster than me. I shouldn't let it bother me, but it's my nature to compare myself to others. Anyway, your running is inspiring - seeing you go from 12-13 minute pace to an 11 or (according to your latest entry) a 10! It gives me hope! LOL Nice job!

    1. Being slow doesn't bother me. I'm proud of myself for getting out there day after day and doing it, no matter the time. I ran my 10 miles at a 14-minute pace, but I don't care that it was so slow. I'm excited I was able to run 10 miles! I'm a glass is half-full kinda girl. :) What bothers me is hearing people berate themselves because they're "slow" when they're running faster than me. I hate hearing people get down on themselves and feel like they're not "real" runners or they should quit because they're so "slow." I want to tell them to be proud of their effort! They're doing so much more than most people out there. Speed will come with time, as long as you put in the miles every week. That's a lesson I'm finally learning.
